Skin Care

skin care

...When it comes to skin care, have you ever felt that you'll never have the kind of healthy-looking skin you want? You're not alone but there's good news. Science has come a long way in formulating products that actually do what they claim they will do. This guide will help you achieve your goals in healthy-looking skin and recommend products that really work! If you're using something you really like, by all means stay with it! But if you haven't found a product that works great and is affordable, this page will provide you with some options.

One of the components of looking good and feeling good is taking care of our skin. We can feel good knowing our skin looks good when we're on-the-go with little makeup on or when we're dressed up for a special occasion or just want a glamour look. It only takes minutes and pennies a day to take excellent care of our skin and this definitely adds to our sense of well being!

...Did you know that our skin starts to age at the age of 20? It's never too early to start taking care of our skin and benefitting from anti-aging products!

If you have areas of special concern or areas that need extra attention, go to our Advanced Skin Care page where you will find information for taking care of special areas of concern such as dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and eye puffiness or redness.

DETERMINING SKIN TYPE
...The first step in caring for your skin is to determine your skin type. First, wash and dry your face and leave it unmoisturized for 3 hours. Then, place a single piece of tissue or blotting paper on your face and remove it. Finally, use the following table to determine your skin type:

1. Normal - if no oil comes off on paper and your face does not feel tight or flaky.
2. Dry - your skin feels dry, tight, and/or flaky and there is no oil on the paper.
3. Oily - if oil comes off your nose, forehead, and cheeks.
4. Combination - if there is oil on your nose and forehead (areas of most oil) but not on your cheeks.

Remember that your skin changes depending on the weather/climate. Use your skin type to determine the products you'll use on your skin; normal/dry or combination/oily.

FIVE BASIC STEPS TO HEALTHY SKIN
...You should cleanse your face morning and night and follow these 5 basic steps for healthy skin:

1. Cleanse.
2. Exfoliate.
3. Freshon/tone.
4. Moisturize.
5. Protect from sun and environmental damage. Using a foundation (creme, liquid, or powder) adds protection.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS
...Below are product recommendations based on skin type. These products are very affordable and combine 3 out of the 5 steps above into 1 step (cleansing, freshening, and exfoliating) saving you time and money! Not just any skin care will do when you really want to make a difference in your skin.
